Alpina is committed to protecting the privacy of its customers. Personal data is therefore treated with the utmost care in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Processing your data

We process personal data in the course of providing our services. These include your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, date of birth and also your bank account number. We also process your data when you contact us or visit our website.

The data that we process is usually obtained from you. We may also obtain the data by other means. For example, we work together with service providers who enrich and/or update our database of name and address details. In this way, we can always reach our customers to inform them about important matters, such as changes to their policy.

What do we process your data for?

Your personal data may be used for the following purposes:

Why may we process your data?

We may process your data for the above-mentioned purposes. We also process your data if we have a legitimate interest or you have given us your consent.

How long do we keep your data?

How long we keep the data depends on the purpose for which the data is processed. This can vary from situation to situation. We do not keep data any longer than necessary for the purpose for which it is processed. We may keep data for a longer period if we are legally obliged to do so or for the purpose of providing evidence to customers and legal proceedings.

Special personal data

Sometimes we process special personal data, such as data concerning your health or criminal data. We process special personal details with extra care. If applicable, we process these details because insurers and authorised agents wish to be informed in order to assess an application.

For some financial products, we ask for your Citizen Service Number (BSN) on behalf of the financial service provider or insurer. We remove the BSN as soon as it has been provided by us to the financial service provider or insurer as part of the application.

Phone calls

In order to improve the quality of our services, we may record our telephone calls. Calls may be listened to in order to train our staff and, if necessary, to verify agreements made with you.

Passing on your data to third parties

In order to carry out the purposes described under 'what do we process your data for', your data may also be shared with third parties. Third parties are in any case the financial service providers (such as banks, insurers and authorised agents) where the application for an insurance or financial product is submitted on your behalf. Third parties also include loss adjusters, debt collection agencies and technical service providers who support us in providing our services.

We can forward your details to the 112Schade.nl claims recovery agency if you are not insured for the damage suffered but we expect that the damage can be recovered from the perpetrator. The claims settlement agency will assess whether it is possible for you to recover the damages from the perpetrator free of charge. The agency will then contact you for further processing. If you do not appreciate the efforts of the claims recovery agency, please let us know.

Alpina's privacy policy does not apply to the processing of your data by the aforementioned third parties. Information on how these third parties handle your data can usually be found on their own websites. Upon your request, we will inform you which third parties we have provided your data to.

Your personal data may also be disclosed to third parties if we are legally obliged to do so, for example, the police or the judicial authorities.
